A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

When I'm not painting, I get my thrills cooking for people; especially baking for large groups.

2. Why do you make art?

I am compelled to paint because doing so fascinates me. I love the physical process. I love how it feels to watch a painting come into being over several sessions. Like I am carefully deciphering a message that needs to be communicated without words.

3. What inspires you?

People inspire me. Contemplating the whole fathomable range of how we experience and express everything, as individuals and as members of different groups, is overwhelming and also deeply touching. I consider that in both the subjects of my painting and my audience.

4. What/who are your influences?

One thing that influences my art the most is that one of my dearest friends is color blind. As much as I love color, I try to convey that vibrancy or intensity in ways that are still clear if the color was removed.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

I would love to meet Jim Henson. He was an absolute wizard at his art.
